◎简　　介　

查理是贝尔中学的学生，生性率真、腼腆。因目睹了同学的恶作剧而被校长威逼利诱。要么妥协，要么恪守原则，本来平静的求学之路顿起波澜，人生被迫面临一次抉择。查理左右为难，带着烦恼来到退伍军人史法兰中校家中做周末兼职。中校史法兰曾经是巴顿将军的副官，经历过战争和许多挫折，在一次意外事故中双眼被炸瞎。他整天在家里无所事事，闷得发慌。

　　史法兰一直想过着美满丰盛的人生，吃佳肴、开快车、跳探戈、住大房子。而对他来说更重要的，当然是亲亲人间难得一尝的女人香。长期的失明生活使得史法兰中校对听觉和嗅觉异常敏感，甚至能靠闻对方的香水味道识别女人的身高、发色乃至眼睛的颜色。其实这都源于他对生活的深刻理解和感悟，也是他生活中唯一的乐趣。但同时落魄的生活也让他失去了生活下去的勇气和信心，并有意告别这个黑暗的世界。

　　他把自己的心灵闭锁于无限的黑暗之中，并决心完成一次“回光返照”似的旅行后体面地结束自己的生命。所以史法兰中校才聘请查利担任导游，再“看看”这个他曾亨受其间的花花世界，他准备用尽最后的精力享受一次美好的生活。命运之神安排二人在人生的十字路口相遇，用相异的手法彼此缝合对方的伤疤，让不同的人生相互救赎并最终做出相同的解释。

　　史法兰中校他带着查理出游、吃大餐、开飞车、跳探戈、住豪华酒店，然后想结束自己的生命。查理竭力阻止了史法兰中校的自杀行为，从此他们之间萌生如父子般的感情，史法兰也找回了生活下去的勇气和力量。不久，查利返校，再次面临着校长的刁难和痛苦的抉择。在校长召开的大会上，史法兰中校不期而至，以雄辨的口才为查利争得一个“无罪“的“判决”。

　　本片取名为《闻香识女人》精妙之极，演员阵容也是典型的新老结合搭档。老牌明星艾尔·帕西诺曾经主演过《教父》等名片，他在《闻香识女人》这部影片中的表演丝丝入扣、打动人心，准确地揭示了失明退伍军人的内心世界。其精湛的演技使他第6次获奥斯卡金像奖提名，而这一次也终于如愿以偿,获得1993年第六十五届奥斯卡最佳男主角奖，同时获得金球奖最佳男演员奖。克里斯·奥唐纳大家现在对他不会陌生，可当年他还只是一个刚刚毕业的学生，也正是凭借在本片中的精彩表现在好莱坞站稳脚跟，后来在《蝙蝠侠与罗宾》、《垂直极限》等片中都有上佳表现。
